Cohasset Dramatic Club

Since 1921, our Historic Commitment to Theatre

Gracing the boards on Cohasset Town Hall stage since 1921, today’s Cohasset Dramatic Club (CDC) is a vibrant theatre composed of talented actors from throughout the larger metropolitan Boston community. With a careful eye toward producing shows that challenge cast members and entertain audiences alike, CDC is dedicated to delivering excellence on stage for all to enjoy. Whether it is through a classic drama, comedy or favorite Broadway musical, CDC strives to draw in new fans and keep regulars returning.

Diligent work over the years by the club to expand its technical and artistic ability has enriched the theatrical experience for audiences. CDC is now known for the high caliber of its productions, including detailed set design and construction, original costuming, creative direction, expert choreography, professional musicians and most importantly, skilled and experienced actors, singers and dancers. The overall quality of productions has also been enhanced through its long-term investment in professional sound and lighting systems, as well as important enhancements to the historic town hall stage.

Located in the heart of historic Cohasset town common, CDC’s theatre has flexible seating for more than 200 audience members. Its annual season typically includes a play or small-cast musical in the fall, a large-scale musical in the spring, and a mid-winter festival of 10-minute plays. In the summer months, the club continues to build its vibrant summer musical theatre workshop programs with two productions, one for ages 8-13 and another for teens and young adults ages 14-college graduates. These popular workshops develop skills in young actors, many of whom continue on to pursue professional roles in theatre and production.

The town of Cohasset and its officials continue to recognize CDC’s important contribution to the community by enabling the club to operate on its home stage for more than 102 years. A non-profit organization, CDC accepts and greatly appreciates tax-deductible contributions from private individuals and local groups, such as The South Shore Playhouse Associates, Abington Bank, Massachusetts Cultural Council and local businesses. CDC is well positioned to enjoy a bright future in thanks to its dedicated board of directors, patrons, advertisers, neighbors, friends, volunteers, actors, directors and loyal audience members.
